American Music Awards - The Official After Party

Exciting stuff- I have just returned from two weeks of traveling and I have documented it all with my new Flip camera (thank you big brother Michael)! So yes, that means I will begin to post vlogs (video logs for you new media dinosaurs) of my many adventures! Also upon returning home, I realized my AMA after party interviews are online which you can view here:

As you can tell, I had a blast and can't wait to see what 2010 will bring for the awards!

Tiger Woods - D Bag of the Week!

Selecting Tiger Woods as this week's D Bag was obviously a total no brainer! When CNN devotes a thirty minute segment to various Tigresses (get it Tiger's Mistresses) that claim to have had sexual relations with the golf superstar without a condom, you know it's pretty bad. And it only adds salt to the wound that all the women are strippers, cocktail waitresses and even porn stars out of Vegas.

No wonder Elin Nordegren bought a new home on a small island outside of Stockholm that is only reachable by boat - I'd want to get the hell away from this sex maniac too! Now I'm just waiting for one of the Guidettes from MTV's Jersey Shore to come out and say she also had an affair with Tiger - that would be amazing!

"So You Think You Can Dance" - Travis Wall

How amazing was Travis's piece on "So You Think You Can Dance" last night??? Check out my interview with him from this past Saturday where he talks about how nervous he is!

American Music Awards - The Rehearsals

I cannot express how amazing being a part of the American Music Awards on Nov. 22nd was - what a carpet, what a show! Between sitting and watching rehearsals, the preparty, the live red carpet show, the actual awards show and then the after party, I am on cloud nine with so much to talk about. However, seeing as this is a blog, I will keep it as short and sweet as possible touching on the highlights from my all access experience.

Part One: The Rehearsals

I would like to start by acknowledging the tremendous positive energy from everyone involved - there was magic in the air! From the production staff and volunteers to the actual music artists themselves, you could tell people were truly happy to be there. As a performer myself, I loved watching the rehearsal process and then seeing the live show. I have to give this to Jennifer Lopez- she is such a professional! After her fall, she got right up and continued with her dance solo. She nailed that jump over and over in rehearsal, but we all know things do not always go as planned.

It was also such a delight to watch Mary J. Blige, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys rehearse - these are terribly gifted women who always carry themselves with such grace. I attempted to watch Lady Gaga as well, be sticking to her true theatrical nature, she showed up on stage in bra and panties and then gave everyone the boot. C'est la vie - I still love her! She was not the only one to close her rehearsal, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Eminem (which I snuck into) and Rihanna did so as well, which I totally respect.

One of the main things I took away from the AMA rehearsals ...... my new celebrity crush on Keith Urban. He is to die for! I've always liked his music, but I never quite understood what Nicole Kidman was seeing until I saw him on stage with his guitar. Nicole - you go girl! He is so talented and so dreamy. Oh, and the accent doesn't hurt either.

Unappreciative Snotty Celebs

Between AFI FEST and LA Unbound's fall dance show, last week was a total whirlwind! Now that I've had a few minutes to reflect and gather my thoughts, I would like to give the award for D Bag of the week to Colin Firth.
This truly saddens me to deem Mr. Firth as such, but his pompous behavior on the red carpet for the closing night gala of Tom Ford's directorial debut A Single Man was unacceptable. Since when did he become too cool for school? He walked the carpet answering questions rudely as if it was such a pain in the ass to be there, while Tom Ford spoke to every single outlet with enthusiasm and grace. Shame on you Colin Firth!
I truly despise this trend of today's unappreciative snotty celebs. Classic movie stars never behaved this way. They were gracious and kind, as evident when I interviewed Eva Marie Saint and Martin Landau for the re-release of Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest.

D Bag Friday - Daddy Dearest?

Sound familiar?...a wannabe show biz daddy with an agenda using the media to cash in while his child suffers for all the world to see.

With all the craziness going on in Hollyweird, this week's D-bag honor goes to a man whose daughter is still sadly battling ghosts and demons from her past. Calling her "a hollow, hollow person", Michael Lohan compared his daughter to a skeleton and said he didn't want to "bury her". Sadly, she's still seemingly addicted to the 'nose' candy among other scary substances. Lindsay's tellingly ghoolish reply..."I literally slept the entire day yesterday. I woke up, and it was like 10 o'clock at night. I was like, 'I have stuff to do!"

Shopping on Robertson

Yesterday I decided to enjoy the beautiful fall afternoon in Los Angeles, so I took a stroll down Robertson Blvd. Now this is extremely out of character for me because I like to avoid all the hoopla and constant paparazzi presence on this particular street. However, I was already in the area and on a hunt for a new pair of jeans. Little did I know I was soon to be held celebrity hostage!
I strolled into Kitson only to have Paris Hilton come in one minute after me to conveniently shop right in front of the windows with all the photogs outside snapping away. Annoyed I went to leave, however the Kitson security guards had a different idea. They locked the front door and would not let me out! I was told to wait, so for twelve minutes I was literally trapped in Kitson because of Paris Freakin Hilton.... really? Come one... who cares anymore? My meter was running out!

What a Week!

Between appearing live as part of the expert panel on HLN's Prime News, a sit down interview at Inside Edition , and a phone interview with TV Guide magazine, I have seriously had enough of Richard Heeney! Not only did he hold the entire world hostage last Thursday with his crazy antics and obsession for fame, but he has also ruined his son Falcon's life. Now forever little Falcon will be known as "balloon boy"!
So now the question is, will this change the reality world? Will people continue to pitch far out ideas and act crazy........ absolutely. It is all part of the industry. Viewers vote with their remotes, and they definitely vote for reality TV. But depending on the consequences Heene suffers, surely those in search of fame will think long and hard before breaking the law and we can only hope that children will not be exploited for an adult's dream.
And yes, Richard Heene is 100% this week's D bag!

D Bag Alert - Jon Gosselin

Hey everybody, happy Friday. Now you know what today is, oh yes, it's D Bag alert time! It should come as no surprise to you that my D Bag of the week is Jon Gosselin. Now TLC is suing the D Bag for breach of contract. My advice to you Jon, put down the booze, hit the gym, take out those ridiculous earrings, stop taking money out of your wife's account over night, keep it in your pants and be a dad. Have a great weekend!

Shopping Etiquette - "Hold" Anyone?

Shopping these days is a hassle. Shopping in Los Angeles at the Beverly Center on a rainy day, even more of a hassle. After you waste fifteen minutes parking and actually getting into the mall, you want to get what you came there for and get out.

Halloween is steadily approaching, so I was on a costume mission! After trying on five or so different outfits, I finally settled on a sexy fuchsia race car driver (yes girls, we all know Halloween is a time to unleash our inner sexpot selves). I patiently waited in a long line just to get cut off at the checkout counter by some rude too old to be in that store woman who wanted to place over ten different items on hold. Let's be real - does anyone really ever go back and buy what they place on hold? Either buy it or put it back, enough with the "hold"!

The Cleveland Show - No!

I'm sorry to say I'm am just not feeling The Cleveland Show. Being a super Family Guy fan for years, I had such high expectations for this show to kick ass! The main problem: I don't like any of the new characters. It's like they are all trying too hard to be whatever it is they are supposed to be. The bear, the pimp baby....... no!

I say send him back to Family Guy where he belongs.

Music Minute - Mainstream Radio

So I had a Sunday filled with dance rehearsals at all different locations. I was literally in and out of my car every hour and a half on the dot.

I kept it on KISS FM, because yes I do love top 40. Every freakin time I got in the car Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" was playing. Now I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga- but come on, can't you spice up the rotation a little more. And no that does mean play more Kanye West!

Music Minute - Lady Gaga

Whether you love her or don’t know quite what to think about her, there is no doubt that Lady Gaga is a pop genius who is here to stay. From the theatrics, to the costumes, to that voice- whoa, does she put on a show!

I think dumbass Miss Heidi Montag could take some serious notes after her Miss Universe pageant performance. Can the girl sing or dance? Hell no!

And I could not be more thrilled with the success of Fox’s new hit show Glee, where pop music meets primetime television. It is my must see pick this week.

Reality TV - So What's Next?

The Ryan Jenkins and Jasmine Fiore tragedy has shed some bad light on reality TV. So the question is, what's next? How is this going to change America's guilty pleasure?

VH1 President Tom Calderone came out to the LA Times with a bold statement that the network will be changing their programming. So how did the fans react? Outraged! In forum after forum the fans are speaking out. They love their VH1 "Of Love" shows! They are absolutely addicted to the outrageous behavior. Let's be honest, does anyone really care if Bret Michaels ever finds love? Of course not! We all keep tuning in to see the bad behavior of our favorite bad girls!

So what is VH1 to do? Simple - stick to reality, but show more growth, more transformation. Yes all five of VH1's top shows had the word "love" in them, but that also included Tough Love, a show with a positive message. And it helps that the host and matchmaker Steve Ward is slightly charming. Oh, and I'm not biased just because I also cast season two.

Music Minute - Summer Concerts

Today it finally felt like fall here in Los Angeles - a nice crisp sixty-eight degrees ...... perfection! I took some time to reflect on my summer, and when I think of summer I always think of MUSIC.

There are so many amazing outdoor venues in LA to enjoy music under the stars. We are truly spoiled. My summer really started off with Coachella back in April. It was my first time, it was hotter than hell, but the Killers killed it! Next up, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Doobie Brothers with one of my best girlfriends. We had a blast, but I can't say it was just because we were jammin to some Classic Southern Rock.

Almost two months of my summer I spent on the reality road casting two different shows, so I basically missed June and July. That whole time I was seriously counting down the days until I saw one of my absolute favorite bands, The Dave Matthews Band. I haven't seen them since '07 at the Hollywood Bowl, so I was psyched they were coming to the Greek this year. Unfortunately, I did not leave that show a happy camper. I totally understand that they have a new album out and they need to and should play music from that album, but not the WHOLE concert! Pretty much 99% of DMB's audiences come to hear their favorite songs and those songs are from the nineties..... so play them, keep your audience happy! An encore of "Tripping Billies" just doesn't do the job.

Luckily, my summer ended on a high note - The Killers at the Hollywood Bowl and Pink at the Staples Center in the same week. The first time I saw Brandon Flowers perform live was three years ago at the Wiltern. It is so great to see him finally comfortable on the stage. He actually looks like he's enjoying himself now. And did I mention he looks better than ever? And Pink, I was blown away - she is phenomenal. I saw her just two days after a major shoulder injury, so she wasn't able to perform "Sober" on the trapeze. It didn't matter one bit, she is a performer to the core and what a VOICE!

Next on my list, I am dying to see Lady Gaga! I am actually glad Kanye West pulled out of the tour, hopefully she'll do it solo. She was AMAZING on SNL. It is so refreshing to watch pop artists like Lady Gaga and Pink who can actually sing live. I know she's a little theatrical, but hey I'm never bored. And how good was Ryan Reynolds hosting for the first time? Here's hoping SNL rocks it this fall!

Reality stars - are they really stars?

It used to be you had to have a string of blockbuster hits and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to be called a star. Now the word star is thrown around so loosely. I'm the first to admit I'm a reality TV junkie - I live, breathe, eat, drink, sleep and cast reality TV. But do I consider my latest reality hunk crush on Survivor to be a star? I just don't think so.
